About Sam Ritchie

Award-Winning Composer and multi-platinum selling artist SAM RITCHIE, best known as Trumpeter and leader of Number 1 UK band SAM AND THE WOMP is now happily preparing new music with fresh collaborators to bring his vibrant brass and beats sound to stages around the world. 

Since international chart success Sam has been storming festivals with his band and producing music for prestigious labels such as WARNER, UNIVERSAL, BMG and CAVENDISH MUSIC landing various TV, Film and advertising placements such as Southern Comfort, Google, BBC, Dr Who, K-MART, JOE FRESH and currently 32-RED, LOVE ISLAND and BT-SPORTS

Sam has enjoyed performing at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL and WEMBLEY ARENA and sharing the bill with DIZZEE RASCAL, MIA, MARK RONSON, DISCLOSURE, CLEAN BANDIT, BASEMENT JAXX, MARTHA REEVES and collaborated with MNEK, SEAL, BRIAN MAY, SLASH , SHARA NELSON. And environmental projects headed by SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH and actor PETER CAPALDI (Dr Who). 

Sam has a love of jazz as well as ethnic music from the far reaches of the West Indies, Africa and The Balkans. 

He recently graduated with a Master’s Degree from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in Jazz Trumpet. Sam continues his academic journey with regular lessons from trumpet master Gerard Presencer as well as studying his heroes Miles Davis, Erik Truffaz and Ibrahim Maalouf. 

Having recently moved to Amsterdam Sam is enjoying making new connections and hosts a weekly residency at the famous Jazz Cafe Alto with new World Jazz group Baztidos which includes musicians from the famous Amsterdam Klezmer Band. Sam is excited to be releasing new music  under his own name having recently signed a brand new partnership with CHERRY RED RECORDS and is performing in front of audiences in the UK and Europe this year.
